Billing transparency

The dollar math is on screen at the moment you approve. No surprise invoices.

When you’re charged

The success fee fires only on a won outcome. When Stripe sends a charge.dispute.closed webhook with status won, our handler computes the fee (recovery_amount × success_fee_rate) and records it. Every other status — lost, warning_closed, expired, charge_refunded — produces $0 in fees.

“Recovered” means the disputed amount Stripe returns to you when a dispute is won. The success fee is calculated on that amount and billed only after the win is confirmed.

The standard rate

Standard rate is 20% of the recovered amount. The founding cohort (first ten merchants) is set to 10% on your account — that’s contractual, not a flag, and guaranteed for your first 12 months even if the standard rate changes; after that the standard 20% applies.

Recovery + fee preview at approval time

The submit step shows the dispute amount and the expected recovery (dispute amount × win probability). The success-fee rate that will apply on a won outcome is fixed at your account level (20% standard, 10% founding) — see /pricing for the math. Your current rate is fixed at the account level and visible on the pricing page, so there is never a fee number you haven’t seen before approving.

Never billed twice for the same dispute

If Stripe notifies us about the same closed dispute more than once, the fee can only ever be charged a single time per dispute — duplicate notifications are ignored. Every fee event is recorded in your audit log so you can reconcile it.

How the fee is collected

Victava bills on Stripe. The success-fee event lands in the audit log on a won outcome; the founding cohort is invoiced through Stripe Invoices for traceability. There is no subscription and no monthly minimum — the only thing you’re ever charged is the success fee on a recovered dispute, and $0 on a loss.
