How the success fee works
Aligned with your outcomes, billed only on funds Stripe recovers — transparent at every step.
- 1
We audit + submit evidence
Victava scores the dispute, drafts the rebuttal, and waits for your approval. You always click submit.
- 2
Stripe issues the credit
On a win, Stripe credits the disputed amount back to your balance — usually within 60-75 days of the original chargeback.
- 3
We bill 20% of the recovery
On a won outcome, the success fee is recorded the moment Stripe marks the dispute won, and billed only on the funds Stripe returns to you — never a subscription, never a monthly minimum. Lose, and you owe $0.
What “recovered” means: “Recovered” means the disputed amount Stripe returns to you when a dispute is won. The success fee is calculated on that amount and billed only after the win is confirmed.
We won't bill you to lose money: Victava runs the expected value on every dispute — the amount, the real win odds, and the fees. When a fight would cost more than it could recover, we recommend not contesting it, so you never pay a success fee chasing a dispute that wasn't worth it.
What's excluded from V1
- • No per-merchant rate negotiation. Rate is 20% (or 10% founding).
- • No enterprise SLA. Best-effort support during US business hours.
- • Stripe today. Run on Shopify Payments? It's not live yet — tell us and we'll build it; see integrations.
- • Card-network only. PayPal / Klarna / non-Stripe rails are out of V1.
We pull data from Shopify (orders, fulfillment, tracking) to win your Stripe disputes today. Run on Shopify Payments instead of Stripe? It's not live yet — tell us and we'll build it; we ship processor support fast for our first merchants (support@victava.com).
See /help/what-victava-does-not-do-yet for the full honesty list, or /terms for the contract.
ROI calculator
The calculator returns once we publish our first win rate. We don't want to anchor your math on a number we haven't earned yet.
Pricing questions, answered honestly
When am I charged?
Only when Stripe marks one of your disputes “won.” The success fee is triggered the moment Stripe closes the dispute in your favor, and it can never be charged twice for the same dispute. Lose or expire? You owe $0.
What if I edit the rebuttal before approving?
You always can. The rebuttal draft is a starting point — you can rewrite any line, swap exhibits, or add a paragraph. Your edits are saved and become the final submitted text. The fee structure doesn't change.
What if I reject the draft?
Click “Skip” on the dispute. Nothing is submitted to Stripe. The dispute reaches its evidence deadline and resolves as expired (lost, but no submission). You owe $0.
What’s a Visa CE 3.0 dispute and does it cost extra?
Visa Compelling Evidence 3.0 is a 2023 Visa rule that lets merchants defeat fraud chargebacks by presenting prior undisputed transactions from the same cardholder. Victava auto-detects CE 3.0 eligibility, gathers the prior-transaction evidence, and packages it. Same 20% success fee as any other reason.
Is the 20% on net or gross recovery?
Gross — the dispute amount Stripe credits back to your balance. We don’t try to subtract Stripe’s processing fees or your COGS; both sides hate that math.
What if I cancel mid-dispute?
Any disputes already submitted with our evidence stay attached to the success fee — if Stripe later rules in your favor, the 20% applies. New disputes after cancellation are not our problem.
Why no monthly fee?
Subscription pricing forces you to pay even when chargebacks are quiet, and lets us stay alive when we’re losing for you. Success-fee pricing means we eat what we kill — and we eat nothing if we don’t.
How is the 10% founding rate enforced?
On signup, the success_fee_rate is set to 0.10 in your tenant record (database column, not feature flag). That 10% founding rate is guaranteed for your first 12 months — even if our standard rate changes in the meantime — after which the standard 20% applies.
